Nifty Thrifty Resale and Estate Sales

It’s only open on Fridays and Saturdays and has no signage that makes it easy to see from the street, but this thrift store has a fun collection of almost everything. From furniture, housewares, stationary and art supplies, clothing, books, DVDs, albums, to cleaning equipment, storage shelving, tools, bicycles and so much more. The day we visited, there was even a pedicab rickshaw available, a motorcycle, and 3.5 and 5-inch floppy disks! The best part is the resident giant schnauzer named Duke. He is super chill and won’t get in the way of your treasure hunt.

Located at the south end of the strip mall on Craycroft, the unassuming store front hides a wealth of treasures. Follow the store on Facebook, to get current days and times they are open and any specials they are running.

Happy thrifting, frugal friends!

Free Just-for-Kids Performance from the TSO String Quartet – November 1, 2014

TSO String Quartet Presents A Magical Musical Mystery

Date:  Saturday, November 1, 2014
Two Performances: 10:00 AM and 11:15 AM.Location:  Tucson Symphony Center → view map

As described on the TSO’s website:
“Hop aboard the magical, musical bus for an exciting adventure in Disneyland! Save the day by solving a mystery with musical clues from famous characters. We’ll meet pirates, princesses, monsters, and many other surprises along the way. In A Magical Musical Mystery the audience will meet Sleeping Beauty, a Pirate from the Caribbean, Morticia from the haunted house and Cookie Monster! The music includes the Disneyland favorite, “It’s a Small World,” the sing-along “Wheels on the Bus” and more by Tchaikovsky, Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Williams and Mozart. The story was written by TSO Assistant Principal Violist Ilona Vukovic-Gay. Costumes welcomed!

A fun family experience for everybody. Filled with discovery, storytelling and a front row experience, our interactive ensemble concerts entertain, engage and educate our youngest listeners. (And maybe some of our older listeners too!) They’ll have a great time, and so will you. FREE for everybody with a suggested donation of $3 per person at the door.”

What a great way to see live music and for those kids who are starting out on string instrument instruction, it’s a great way to experience the possibilities of playing a instrument.
